Title: Q&A with FGW and NR, hosted by Reading Borough Council at the Civic Centre Post by: Chris from Nailsea on June 25, 2009, 19:13:27 From the Reading Chronicle (http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/news/reading/articles/2009/06/25/39487-qa-with-rail-bosses/):
Quote Commuters will get a second chance to grill rail bosses next week. The question-and-answer event on Tuesday evening (June 30) is a follow-up to a similar session last July. First Great Western (FGW) has improved its record markedly since then, and has even scrapped season ticket discounts previously paid for poor performance. The event will be hosted by Reading Borough Council at the Civic Centre. FGW chief operating officer Mark Hopwood will answer public questions, alongside route director Richard Rowland and Network Rail managers. Anyone can just turn up to the session, which starts at 6.30pm in the main council chamber. Interesting quote: Quote from: Mark Hopwood (from getreading article) Mr Hopwood apologised for the poor track record in recent times, but added FGW was now taking the pain out of travelling by train. ^A year ago we were firmly at the bottom of these tables, so there has been a significant improvement,^ he said. ^We know that we are still not at the level that customers expect, but the level of service is now not far way from the Swiss railways, which are regarded as very reliable trains.^ This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
