Title: Strange formation
Post by: willc on June 18, 2009, 23:42:29
From FGW website. Anyone know type of train this service was being operated by? I'm guessing a shrunken HST, as a six-car Turbo would need a set locked out of use to call at several stations.

20:59 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 23:37
18 June 2009
This train will be formed of 6 coaches instead of 8.This is due to a train fault.

could be that one or two of the coaches had no lights or some other fault so was closed to passengers

Well it definitely was a HST and I know it was late running - my 1922 had to wait at evesham for it to clear the single track! normally it is there before us!

It was a 2+6 HST formed of two 1st Class carriages and four Standard Class carriages. I expect that the missing coach is away having it's buffet installed and whilst these refurbs are taking place you may see the off 2+6 around if no replacement carriage can be sourced. The good news is they go like a rocket and are better suited in some ways to the quieter Cotswold services!

The 2+6 was not well received by the customers! Coach G made a re-appearance this morning to restore the set to 2+7.

But on which journey?

The 9pm departure from WOS is a ghost train - done it once when I got a call after evensham that we had a system problem and could I get back into the office - I was arriving of the 1822!

So I dount the six carriages caused a problem on that leg!  However I suspect that since it is the 1751 it is a major issue on that leg!

No different to the 5 car adelante it replaced which had fewer seats.
