Title: Axminster Loop - new timetable from Dec 2009 Post by: John22 on June 13, 2009, 19:40:24 Does anyone know what the new timetable from Waterloo to Exeter is likely to look like.
I am particularly interested in the time of the first train from Yeovil to Exeter. Title: Re: Axminster Loop - new timetable from Dec 2009 Post by: Lee on June 13, 2009, 19:45:57 Welcome and enjoy the forum, John22

http://www.railfuture-sw.co.uk/2tphExeterSalisbury.htm Seems the plan is to cross trains at Axminster, Yeovil-Templecombe and Tisbury, but with the down trains now waiting at Tisbury instead. Every station gets an hourly service bar Feniton, Whimple and Pinhoe which get 2 hourly services - still their best ever service mind. Trains to take 3h19m for the 'express' services and 3h26m for other up trains, 3h30m for down services. Mind you, it ran as three separate trains in peak Summer.
An hourly service doing the journey in the same sort of time with twelve or stops would have seemed like science fiction back then...... Title: Re: Axminster Loop - new timetable from Dec 2009 Post by: 6 OF 2 redundant adjunct of unimatrix 01 on June 15, 2009, 22:12:19 god what speed was that going

I envy you Richard. I'm currently on the hunt for a replacement 1963 SR timetable ;D Title: Re: Axminster Loop - new timetable from Dec 2009 Post by: RichardB on June 15, 2009, 23:04:22 How about this one, Lee?

Title: Re: Axminster Loop - new timetable from Dec 2009 Post by: devon_metro on June 15, 2009, 23:08:43 It does seem bizarre that such places as Honiton will soon be getting more frequent services to London than Taunton!

Gillingham, a town of around 9,000 people was used last year by 395,000 people - over 1000 a day. Honiton sees a fairly impressive 284,000. I think Taunton has pretty much an hourly London service at worst anyway, and normally better in the peak - there's plenty of up trains in the morning anyway.
