Title: Weired or weird? Post by: grahame on June 13, 2009, 18:03:13 Hello ...
(http://www.wellho.net/pix/www0.jpg) I took my first train trip today. Less that half an hour, and great fun. I couldn't help noticing that there seems to be a river, with a weir, near every station. Is this a requirement these days? Here's the first one ... (http://www.wellho.net/pix/www1.jpg) and here is the one that's near to the station at the end of the journey ... (http://www.wellho.net/pix/www2.jpg) When we came back, we went for a walk near another station too and of course there was a weir there: (http://www.wellho.net/pix/www3.jpg) Can anyone name the three stations we visited? Title: Re: Weired or weird? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on June 14, 2009, 20:41:29 I'm fairly sure the first one is Avoncliff - the ruined, but now apparently being restored, mill opposite the gardens of the Cross Guns ph, under the aquaduct?

You're absolutely correct, Chris ... I actually just came on to post further clues at the stations, as no-one had even tried. Here's the Avoncliff clue (http://www.wellho.net/pix/rail222.jpg) And here are the clues for the other 2 places (http://www.wellho.net/pix/rail111.jpg) (http://www.wellho.net/pix/rail333.jpg) Title: Re: Weired or weird? Post by: grahame on June 14, 2009, 21:15:04 The Third was indeed taken as we walked briskly over the level crossing at BOA ... well done, both.
Title: Re: Weired or weird? Post by: cereal_basher on June 14, 2009, 21:36:33 I think the second one may be Keynsham.

Title: Re: Weired or weird? Post by: inspector_blakey on June 15, 2009, 18:01:28 Beat me to it with Keynsham! You chose a couple of stations next to some very respectable pubs, with the Cross Guns at Avoncliff and the Lock Keeper/Brass Mill at Keynsham. Was that an accident ;)?
