Title: Is a stopper fare still cheaper from reading to London?
Post by: Mookiemoo on June 09, 2009, 23:22:18
I didnt think there was still a difference.

When I lived in wokingham I remember via twyford fares being cheaper than reading none stop

Now I dont see the difference but......... some chav was on the 0831 officially to ealing broadway but we know it ends at PAD and claimed her ticket was valid for that - no difff to me but if I was at reading at 0825 I would not get the 0831 if I were going to london

I think your memory is playing tricks.  Wokingham fares were and still are cheaper when routed via staines.

You still get route Twyford tickets when travelling to Henley.  The route is either Twyford (which is cheaper) or Reading ( more expensive)

Also going to Twyford there are two options again.  Either Reading or Not Reading.

that explains it.  I never used the wokingham to waterloo - except after the ladbroke grove accident!

I think it was Twyford - Paddington (not Reading).  But because it was only stoppers that stopped at Twyford I put 2+2 together  and assumed it was because the service was a slow stopper that it was cheaper not that it was cheaper because it avoided Reading.  Although to be fair, it amounts to the same thing!  you wouldnt go back to Reading and get a stopper!

Although it still doesnt explain why someone CHOOSES to get the 0831 all the way to London
