Title: Extra late trains from Cardiff to BTM on Friday 12/06
Post by: BPWuser on June 09, 2009, 13:44:25
I'm going to see Oasis in Cardiff on friday.

Rang FGW Customer Services (last week), apparently there is a 23.00, 23.15, and 23.30 back to BTM although they could not confirm where these trains will stop (although the 23.00 is part of the normal timetable so should be as usual).

Booked my train tickets today at Parkway station. The revised train details do not appear on 'their times system'.

Can anyone confirm what the stopping details of these trains will be?

Thanks.

Can't find them on any journey planners.

I don't think these are going to be running. They aren't on any system, only the 2300 service is.

In case anyone wants to know what happened.......

Rang FGW customer services on Friday, no extra trains as far as they could see, but there are some for 'Take That' (Oh great).

So, on friday night after the concert I queued up with many others under the 'Bristol' banner at Cardiff Central for a train home. Lots of anxious people wondering how/when we would be getting home. I checked rail enquiries on my phone and just the 11.00 train appeared. We may have all squeezed onto an hst, but no-one had any idea what was happening.

At just before 11.00 there was a release of people for a train. Not sure how many got on but the queue was probably down by a third. Then being nearer to the station it was quite clear from the information displays that there was indeed to be an 11.15 and 11.30 back to Bristol. So at 11.15 the queue was released again, and this time I managed to get on the train (which looked like 5 cars with a 150 + 158/9). I got back to Filton Abbey Wood, so all ok. We were slightly late arriving so whilst walking past the retail park an FGW hst went by looking quite empty, and I suspect this was the 11.30 train.

So all well and good, but I just don't understand why these services were not advertised. They can't just have been thought about on the day, so why not tell people they are running and then let people catch them. Apparently there were lots of queues on the motorway into Cardiff so for many the train would have been a better option, but how are these people meant to find out about services which are not advertised?
