Title: Official - delays and lack of information cause negative feelings.
Post by: grahame on June 05, 2009, 07:02:22
Quote
A report that took two years to complete and cost taxpayers 500,000 pounds has concluded that rail passengers may experiend 'negative' feelings if their train is late an no-one tells them why.  The 178 page report, by the rail safety and standards board, also found that passengers are likely to be in a 'positive frame of mind' if their train is punctual and announcements are audible

That's a short paragraph in "The Week", dated 30th May.   Selective reporting, half a million being spent on confirming common sense, or a valuable conclusion?

I think it's money well spent: I've lived the past 50 years worrying about my occasional 'negative feelings' - but now I've discovered why I have them!  ;) :D ;D

These reports are always a waste of time and money.

Same with these NR reports:

"Redoubling X would be good."

"Raising line speed Y would be desirable."

"Let's look at a new station at Z"

Sorry, stop all this talk. And start the action! The West Mids reports have talked and talked about things for ages. e.g. Raising line speeds between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury from 70 to 90 mph. But each year, no progress is made.

Resignalling projects on lines near me get pushed back each year.... probably because they are spending far too much time & money producing waste of time reports and not actually slapping the new signals in!
