Title: A very long and tortous 30 miles Post by: johoare on May 30, 2009, 15:00:06 Last night, I had to get the 23.48 out of Paddington which is never my favourite thing to do.. But it was either that or wait 40 minutes at Paddington late at night which is another of my unfavourite things :)
The train is timetabled to stop at every station possible.. So it is timetabled at a quite astonishing 52 minutes as it is, for less than 30 miles... However last night, due to reasons that weren't explained to us, it took over an hour.. The main delay being before Southall where we had a little sit for a while, but we then crawled along, slowing down for all stations a good couple of miles in advance.. All this on a packed and noisy train wasn't much fun.. I'm sure there used to be a better choice of late night trains when Thames trains were in charge, but I could be wrong... I think last nights delays were due to engineering works, but that's just a guess since we went as far as Slough on the main line.. :) Title: Re: A very long and tortous 30 miles Post by: smithy on May 30, 2009, 21:00:33 that seems a very long time to do 30 miles, only thing i can think of is you were following a slow running freight train.
