It could be percieved as slightly patronising and a bit long winded, however to the average rail user, it explains things clearly.

She is pro-rail herself, and is just explaining things clearly to Thameslink passengers. The video's purpose is to be direct.

just curious about the name

Strangely enough, I'm not from Brighton.

I do live in a place that features a very long-winded train journey to Brighton and found myself asking "Why is my local commuter train going all the way to Brighton? Who would possibly ever use such as service?"

Thus the name is a sort of a rejection of train services that go a very long distance and still stop at every station.

For a short period late last year my ten minute morning commute used to involve a train that was terminating at Aberdeen, somewhat after I would be getting home in the evening.

Ah, yes, John: that rather smelly 08:46 Voyager, which was somehow persuaded to stop at our station, and take us into Bristol, on its way 'north of the border'!  ::) ;D

Indeed Chris. Although whilst it was the Aberdeen service it was rostered to be an HST, which was an absolute delight, whether the unrefurbished or refurbished type.

I'm off to Glasgow on Wednesday for a few days. If only I could have that rather than voyagers all the way.

Sorry, bit off Thameslink videos now aren't we.

Back on topic, it's a shame they couldn't get someone who sounded a little more upbeat.  Perhaps you have to pay more for optimism?
