No. 2 is indeed Warminster;   No. 3 in not Thatcham.

Isn't 4 Swindon, rather than 3?  :P

I have to say, 1. doesn't look like a typical GWR bridge to me. Not that I'm an expert by any means. Is it in the Cam Valley perhaps?

The last picture is indeed Swindon (no. 4 if you count from 1, no. 3 if you're a computer type who counts from 0).  Brave to try no. 1, Phil; no - not Cam valley - closer to home.  In fact I'm just about to run Dad home in the car, and I'll be back home in under half an hour ... and I will have been within 100 yards of it.

I knew it was Warminster because I am sure I saw that young lady with the luminous pink suitcase down there the other day !

Well - it was just a few days back that I was there - perhaps at the same time.

Perhaps we should start a "distinctive luggage" thread ... except  that it would be peverse to have it in "The lighter side", wouldn't it?

Picture 3 is that Lisa's car I can see  ::)

Not to the north ... and for anyone who doesn't know, I live on the south side of the town of Melksham.  Places that aren't terribly far from me include Bradford-on-Avon, Corsham, Calne, Devizes and (in railway terms) parts of the Pewsey to Westbury line.

Nope  ;D  ;D - some crusty old gent I smiled at as I took the picture and he didn't smile back.  Probably the beard, the ponytail and hairband, the scruffy anorak, the camera and the muddy trouser legs that put him off. (I was not on a workday!)

No problem, thetrout - I assumed it was a typo!  ;)

By the way,

I knew it was Warminster because I am sure I saw that young lady with the luminous pink suitcase down there the other day !

... I'm also fairly sure that I saw a remarkably similar young lady, with that distinctive fluorescent pink suitcase, at BTM, a few days ago - but it didn't help me at all with identifying where grahame's picture was taken!

You're right that you're wrong, I'm afraid, Ollie.  They're four very recent pictures, and the furthest I got this month before I posted them was Newbury, Swindon, Salisbury.

Picture one is stumping everyone.   If I said that it's parallel to a whole load on canal locks that run about 100 yards to the north, would that help?

north of Bedwyn?

I'd say more west of Devizes - possibly the former location of Bromham and Rowde Halt?

No. i is indeed west of Devizes - less than a mile from the former station, where the land has fallen away and the canal, the road and the former railway all drop down Caen Hill.

Ah, the Caen Hill flight of locks, on the Kennet & Avon Canal - so indeed, just west of Devizes?  ;)

Edit note - I posted this moments after grahames' confirmation!  :P
