Title: Turbo refurbishment and 165101 Post by: Jonathan H on April 14, 2009, 06:58:30 165101, working the 0634 Reading to Gatwick Airport this morning, has been treated to new floor coverings. Is this some kind of trial? The vehicle with the toilet has carpet and is quite pleasant, the middle coach has light lino and doesn't seem right, the coach at the other end has a mix. More generally, is there a timescale for this work?

Is this some kind of trial? The vehicle with the toilet has carpet and is quite pleasant, the middle coach has light lino and doesn't seem right, the coach at the other end has a mix. More generally, is there a timescale for this work? Just to follow this up, it appears to be some time since I travelled in this unit and the work didn't look too recent. However, I haven't seen any other units done or this reported and thought it worthy of note. I'm not used to 165s not having a black floor. What is the timescale for Turbo refurbishment and what will it cover? Should I be writing to First Great Western to commend them on adding carpet to the 165 fleet, given the almost indescriminate use of this with 166s on stopping services and the use of 165s on Oxford fasts / Gatwick services or is everything decided now?
