Title: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 21, 2009, 21:02:28 (http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/liamy_2006/where2.jpg)
Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 21, 2009, 21:29:38 Hmmm. Well, it's the door opening indicator light on the side of a silver/grey liveried carriage - so a Cross Country, I assume. And judging by the angle of the sunlight, the photo was probably taken at, say, about 11:00 on 18 February ?
But if you're asking exactly 'where' it was taken, devon_metro, I haven't a bluddy clue! ;D Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 21, 2009, 22:46:30 I'll get back to you regarding the time ;)
Title: Re: Where? Post by: super tm on March 22, 2009, 20:27:51 Long Marston ?
Title: Re: Where? Post by: thetrout on March 22, 2009, 20:29:05 Is it possibly the FGW Loco Hauled set...?
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 22, 2009, 20:38:44 Is it possibly the FGW Loco Hauled set...? It is indeed yes Title: Re: Where? Post by: thetrout on March 22, 2009, 20:48:43 It is indeed yes ;D Location Severn Tunnel Junction possibly...? Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 23, 2009, 17:32:18 It is indeed yes ;D Location Severn Tunnel Junction possibly...? Sadly not Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 23, 2009, 19:49:06 West of Bristol, possibly? ;)
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 23, 2009, 19:52:11 West of Bristol, possibly? ;) Perhaps ;) However, I know that you know where it is Chris :) Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 23, 2009, 19:55:39 Yes, I'm getting an increasingly uneasy feeling that I'm going to appear a complete chump over this one!
It's the down platform at Nailsea, isn't it? ::) ;D Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 23, 2009, 19:59:52 However, I know that you know where it is Chris :) Perhaps you don't! :D Title: Re: Where? Post by: thetrout on March 23, 2009, 20:07:26 Devon_Metro has confirmed that the train in the photo is the FGW Loco Hauled set, Which IIRC operates between Taunton - Bristol Parkway and Taunton - Cardiff Central.
Therefore the picture is highly likely to be one of the stations along the route. Unless the Loco Hauled set operated another route as cover stock which we don't know about... :-X But that would mean the Devon_Metro is cheating...! ::) Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 23, 2009, 20:08:46 Well, to be fair, the mere suggestion of some sort of overbridge in the background is all I have to work on: Parson Street? ::)
Title: Re: Where? Post by: Super Guard on March 23, 2009, 20:57:07 Hmmm. Well, it's the door opening indicator light on the side of a silver/grey liveried carriage - so a Cross Country, I assume. But if you're asking exactly 'where' it was taken, devon_metro, I haven't a bluddy clue! ;D FYI, XC HSTs have new CDL lights, so couldn't have possibly been one of those ;) Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 23, 2009, 21:12:58 Yes: having by now studied that picture in mind-numbing detail, SDA, I do realise that I did initially make that erroneous assumption! ::) :-[ ;D
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 23, 2009, 21:27:42 Well, to be fair, the mere suggestion of some sort of overbridge in the background is all I have to work on: Parson Street? ::) No ;) Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 23, 2009, 21:31:43 My final 'guess', then - Yatton? ::)
I'm really not very familiar with any of the stations west of Nailsea - I'm a Bristol commuter! :-[ Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 23, 2009, 21:33:48 Sadly not Yatton, however the structure in the background is of a similar colour to the scheme of Yatton itself.
Title: Re: Where? Post by: thetrout on March 24, 2009, 20:44:41 Highbridge and Burnham...??? ;D
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 24, 2009, 20:52:54 Getting closer ;)
Title: Re: Where? Post by: thetrout on March 24, 2009, 21:01:30 I've just read your clue about the colour scheme and trout thinks he's solved it :)
Bridgwater...! ;D Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 24, 2009, 21:12:34 Closer still :D
Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 24, 2009, 21:17:15 Oh, no ... it's Taunton again, isn't it? ::)

Title: Re: Where? Post by: thetrout on March 25, 2009, 17:10:09 The canopy in the image leads me to believe it might be Exeter St Davids...?
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 25, 2009, 17:37:39 The canopy in the image leads me to believe it might be Exeter St Davids...? Nope! Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 28, 2009, 22:48:10 A clue perhaps...?
The Adelantes used to operate between Exeter and London serving this station. Title: Re: Where? Post by: thetrout on March 28, 2009, 23:00:24 Castle Cary...??
Title: Re: Where? Post by: ReWind on March 29, 2009, 08:11:13 Westbury?

(http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/liamy_2006/where5.jpg) However, I have an inkling somebody may be able to get this :D Title: Re: Where? Post by: grahame on March 29, 2009, 19:01:59 Clearly at Taunton. ;)
You're not the only one with pictures like this ... http://www.wellhousemanor.co.uk/artroom3.html Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 29, 2009, 19:17:20 As it turns out, no ;D
Title: Re: Where? Post by: TerminalJunkie on March 29, 2009, 21:58:53 Bolton?
Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 29, 2009, 22:10:29 Now, I would have been regarded as nuts for posting such a suggestion! ;D
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 29, 2009, 22:22:01 A bolt could loosely be related to the name.
Title: Re: Where? Post by: Btline on March 29, 2009, 23:43:42 Bolton on Deane, Knutford, Nutbounre, Nutfield?
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 30, 2009, 16:09:08 it's in fgw land.
Title: Re: Where? Post by: TerminalJunkie on March 30, 2009, 16:53:26 Is there a station called Whitworth? (http://www.moppo.net/links/377556001238428375-final.gif) (http://www.moppo.net)
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 30, 2009, 16:58:53 I'm not sure, however, it looks like you've spelt it incorrectly ;)
Title: Re: Where? Post by: Btline on March 30, 2009, 17:27:46 Nailsea and Backwell?
Title: Re: Where? Post by: devon_metro on March 31, 2009, 17:48:25 I didn't spot that, correct Btline.
Shame on Chris for not spotting it from the footbridge ;) Title: Re: Where? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 31, 2009, 22:46:26 It did strike me, rather like a bolt out of the blue, that your photo might make me appear a complete nut for not nailing that one down. I'm rather rusty on these things, of course - but it's probably best to gloss over that!
