Title: How stuff works
Post by: chrisoates on February 08, 2009, 00:36:28
Made an awful mistake - went to Youtube looking for Valenta engine sounds and spent the whole evening  looking at train videos - it's just toooooo addictive.
One I found was a bit useful for us passengers as it explains a bit about what goes on in the cab and at signal boxes.

It's in three parts

Very interesting.  However...One S Sixteen...No way!... always One S One Six.   (Or Two U Nine Nine etc etc). Too much margin for lack of clarity otherwise.

Sorry if it's caused any confusion, Btline, but this topic does seem to have ranged fairly widely from correct use of the phonetic alphabet to Morse code* - and TerminalJunkie's previous post was just a little 'cheeky', possibly?  ;D

* See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morse_code for details of the code, by the way.

Yankee echo sierra.  I was trying to be too bravo lima oscar oscar delta yankee clever. :-[

Translates to:

Yes. I was trying to be too bl**dy clever. (worked out from the first letter of each phonetic alphabet word ;D)

Translates to:

LMAO

Short for: Laughing My A**e Off!!

and TerminalJunkie's previous post was just a little 'cheeky', possibly?  ;D

Insert an F into that code and it all of a sudden becomes a different kettle of fish... :P ;D

Just watch a few re runs of 'The Bill' on Claimants' TV, (er sorry, Afternoon TV).  All the letters in the phonetic alphabet will come round eventually.
