Title: Barnstaple Line Carnet Tickets Post by: signalandtelegraph on January 18, 2009, 08:44:33 There was an ad in our local paper this week for Tarka line carnet tickets,
10 single trips Crediton to Exeter ^12.50 (tickets available from Crediton TIC or Station Tea Rooms) 10 single trips Morchard Road/Copplestone/Yeoford ^20 (tickets available from Copplestone Stores or the PO's at Morchard Road/Yeoford) Some more offers here http://ndrailusers.wikispaces.com/Special+Offers#toc6 (http://ndrailusers.wikispaces.com/Special+Offers#toc6) Sorry if this info has been posted before, it seemed worth sharing again as it looks like a very good deal! :) Title: Re: Barnstaple Line Carnet Tickets Post by: gaf71 on January 18, 2009, 09:40:57 These Carnets have been arond for a couple of years now on the Barnstaple branch, and provide very good value. Also available on the Gunnislake branch, and some branch lines in Cornwall I think. Vacman can probably tell us which ones!

Title: Re: Barnstaple Line Carnet Tickets Post by: RichardB on January 18, 2009, 22:20:05 We run the Carnets. There are two on the Tamar Valley Line (one from Calstock/Gunnislake, the other Bere Alston/Bere Ferrers) to Plymouth, one from Looe to Plymouth and Morchard Rd/Copplestone/Yeoford to Exeter. All are to encourage more commuting and the Tamar Valley Line ones have been particularly successful with a fifth of all journeys on the line made using one.
We've just placed ads in the relevant papers - I'm guessing you saw the Crediton Gazette, signalandtelegraph? If that was the ad you saw, they have used the wrong artwork and we'll have to make sure they do us a new ad using the right one! Can you let me know by replying to this thread please. They won't be getting paid for that! We'll get the right one in next week. Title: Re: Barnstaple Line Carnet Tickets Post by: eightf48544 on January 19, 2009, 11:38:32 Questions:
1. Are they true carnets in the French sense that you buy 10 tickets and then anynumber of people can use them and swop them around between themselves or are they like most UK tickets non transferrable? 2. Are they single or return? If they are single presumably you use another for the return journey thus getting 5 return trips? More than one person can travel on a book as long as there are enough tickets remaining in it. 2. They are single (each carnet is a book of ten single tickets), so you indeed can make 5 return trips. We seem to get awfully hung up about non tranferability of tickets in this country. Has it made a difference to passenger numbers?
