Title: Look at this service ....
Post by: grahame on January 09, 2009, 19:53:55
Westbury to Swindon at 06:30 07:02 07:30 08:35
Arriving Swindon 07:16 07:46 08:16 and 09:21

Swindon to Westbury at 06:15 07:45 08:30 and 09:25
Arriving at Westbury at 07:00 08:32 09:17 and 10:12

How does that look to you for the start of the day?  I am showing scheduled Westbury and Swindon times only - some trains running further e.g. the 06:15 from Swindon starting at Gloucester and carrying on to Southampton, and the 07:02 off Westbury carrying on to Cheltenham.

The service above is actually what was scheduled to run (last minute) last Tuesday and did, with a few delays caused by the utter chaos on the Trowbridge - Bath - Bristol section and the need to hold trains at Trowbridge or Chippenham to avoid head on collisions  ;D

The half hourly interval was a bit optimistic - but the hourly can be done (and, thanks, FGW for demonstrating that it can be!).   It's too much to ask for this service, extended through the day, from this coming December ... but can we (please!) have trains ...

Off Swindon at 06:15 09:02 12:02 15:02 17:55 and 18:45
Off Westbury at 07:02 08:09 11:02 14:02 16:53 and 19:32
(most services to / from Salisbury)

Signed - by over FIVE HUNDRED interested parties -

Seconded, thirded, and may the fourth be with you!

The getting back times you suggest would be jolly useful as well. I know at least one potential passenger, sat not a million miles away from me as I write, who would use the train from Melksham every working day if he could - the current timings would require him to work a 10 and a half hour day  :-\
