Title: Re: Bristol - Bath line closed Post by: tramway on January 06, 2009, 11:43:05 Virtually the only place you could travel to by train from Trowbridge this morning was Melksham.
Was a bit disappointed with the lack of replacement road transport as I believe there was only a single coach laid on, and that was at 8.40. The first train through to Bath was the 0900 and that ran 20 min late, and not everyone got on the replacement coach there and then had to wait, including an elderly lady who was travelling to Newcastle. Title: Re: Bristol - Bath line closed Post by: Graz on January 06, 2009, 17:55:24 I had to miss work. No replacement coaches to Warminster, and the bus services in the evening aren't great so I didn't go in. Not that I minded- it's freezing out there! A blessing in disguise!
Title: Re: Bristol - Bath line closed Post by: Phil on January 06, 2009, 19:11:05 My son, who commutes daily Melksham - Filton Abey Wood (by driving first to Trowbridge and parking there), left here at 7 and got into work at 11, which isn't too bad really. Ironically I think he might've got the Trowbridge to Swindon train and changed there.
Title: Re: Bristol - Bath line closed Post by: John R on January 06, 2009, 19:21:04 Took me an hour to get from TM to Bath on the 0830 to Paddington. Of course they had raised all our expectations that we were going via Parkway only to dash them again. So we were doubly annoyed, especially when we ground to a halt still within sight of Temple Meads for the first of many stops.

Title: Re: Bristol - Bath line closed Post by: signalandtelegraph on January 07, 2009, 13:45:19 Official line is 'Severed' which usually means theft.

I does suprise me the lack of reporting on the incident considering the disruption it caused just after Christmas compared with the problems the ECML have had, I would have thought the local press would have been quite interested. Getting dogs drunk seems to be more news worthy. :( This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
