Title: Self-service collection glitch Post by: lj3 on December 26, 2008, 23:48:20 Hi all,
So I booked some tickets for SWT travel (thank god) but for collection still nominated to collect them from an FGW self-service machine as there is no other way to get them now, post was not even offered. Went to the FGW machine, out of order (shock). The only option I can see now is to buy a new full price ticket on the day of travel and forget about my advance fare. Will the toc do anything about this? The fault was with FGW but the advance ticket was booked through the SWT web site. The SWT station dosn't have a machine yet capable of supplying self-service pre-booked tickets. Thanks for any thoughts. You could try ringing this number tomorrow.
I also believe that some FGW ticket offices can issue pre-booked tickets. Mind when it's down the Self serve ticket machines are usally also down.
I always get my Pre-Booked Tickets from a Booking Office, IF there's a problem STAFF can often sort it out a Machine can't. Title: Re: Self-service collection glitch Post by: thetrout on January 02, 2009, 14:05:48 A Situation I also found myself in at Frome one afternoon, Ticket office was closed, Ticket Machine out of order. Fortunately I had the e-mail conformation with me which showed I had paid for the tickets and what services they were for etc. The Train Manager accepted this and said I should be able to pick up the tickets from Westbury for my onward travel.
Whether SWT would accept that as a ticket I don't know, But as far as i'm aware, you can collect your tickets from a ticket office or other ticket machines as long as you have your reference number, which the ticket machine retrieves from a central database somewhere. Title: Re: Self-service collection glitch Post by: Tim on January 02, 2009, 14:45:30 if you present your booking ref at the ticket window, they will find and print your tickets. If they can't do that then I would proceed as advised by the ticket office staff
Title: Re: Self-service collection glitch Post by: Shazz on January 02, 2009, 17:35:46 give someone at the ticket desk your card you booked on, and ask if you can collect your tickets.

If they can't do that then I would proceed as advised by the ticket office staff when i did it to be fair a few years ago the 'next step' after they couldnt give me tickets booked online when the machine was down was to wait for it...... but some more grrrrrr Title: Re: Self-service collection glitch Post by: Henry on January 03, 2009, 09:17:47 As railway companies are advertising the use of self service machines, I think it is up to them to get their act together. Looking to replace people with machines i.e. Paddington, is acceptable according to FGW. Until something goes wrong. You can get exactly the same deals at a ticket office as on-line and I will continue to use the ticket office, while I still have the choice.
