Title: Newton Abbot/Exeter to Bristol Post by: Zoe on November 24, 2008, 19:57:47 Hi, is there any reason why day return fares for this journey have been scrapped? I did not even know they had been scrapped before I looked for the fare on a website today and saw it was no there. I can understand Swindon to Reading not having a day return fare as there has never been one but why scrap an existing fare?

I did not even know they had been scrapped before I looked for the fare on a website today and saw it was no there. I can understand Swindon to Reading not having a day return fare as there has never been one but why scrap an existing fare? Just checked the last fares manual and there werent any. I dont think that there ever have been such tickets on this route. When the ticket types were changed this route had a saver valid any time. Such tickets were changed into anytime tickets not off peak. Perhaps that is were the confusion comes from Title: Re: Newton Abbot/Exeter to Bristol Post by: Zoe on November 25, 2008, 12:37:10 In 2000 I went to Bristol for the day and it was nowhere near as expensive as it is now. As no break of journey as allowed on the outward section of an off peak return I can't get off an XC services and change at Taunton for the possible loco-hauled train to Bristol.

I believe break of journey means leaving the station. You would just be changing trains. Besides, I'm not sure the break of journey rule now applies to outward journeys? Title: Re: Newton Abbot/Exeter to Bristol Post by: devon_metro on November 25, 2008, 15:29:18 You can break your journey on all tickets apart from Advance Purchase.

You did not used to be allowed to break the outward part of your journey with a Saver, has this changed now with the new tickets?Title: Re: Newton Abbot/Exeter to Bristol Post by: devon_metro on November 25, 2008, 16:12:43 Yes
