Hi,
I am looking for somewhere to park the car and take the train into Bristol to take advantage of the 2for1 offers. We are coming from the M5 southbound and would also like free parking and a relitavley cheap train fare for a family of 4 with a railcard. Any help would be much appreciated.

You're going to come up from the South or come down the southbound (i.e. from the North)? Also, which day of the week would it be?

Worle is your best bet if coming from the south. Just off the motorway at Jn 21.

We are coming from Devon and afterwards heading for Cardiff

In that case, DevonTrains2008, I agree with John R: I suggest you use Worle.

There's free parking at Worle, but there are charges for parking at Yatton, and Nailsea & Backwell is too far from the motorway to make sense (and, while it's 'free' here, you wouldn't get a space after about 7:45am!)

Journey time from Worle to BTM is about 25 mins, and it costs about ^5 a head - less, hopefully, with railcard / family / off peak discounts.

my local station(s) are also on SWT. Towards the far end of the 'West Of England Main Line' i.e Whimple, Feniton, Honiton.

same as me (im in sidmouth btw) ok basically as far as parking goes digby and sowton is not far from you and there is a small carpark by the entrance which is free and always empty now i always use it there are cameras and i concider it safe even though its out the way i neve had issues i wouldnt want to park the car there over say a week but if its a day out it should be fine as for the train fairs well that isnt my area of expertise however try compairing the advance fair to the fair from the limits of the devon day ranger which costs a tenner and from there onwards, if you have a railcard and are taking children they normally get very good rates, added bonus of devon ranger is you can go anywhere in devon after 9am including whimple-as far as axminster if you wanted your car at home may even get discount on the ranger but doubt it 

Next time we go to Bristol we'll probably take a train from Whimple to Bristol but we have to drive to Cardiff afterwards so nearer to Bristol would prob. be better than Digby...

In an ideal world, DevonTrains2008, I would be able to suggest using Portishead as the perfect solution to your requirements - but, sadly, that's apparently still a few years away ...  ::)

How about Avonmouth? I'm not sure what the car parking is like though.
