Title: 7.06pm Paddington to Maidenhead 22/10/08 Post by: johoare on October 22, 2008, 23:31:01 I was a bit concerned how early this train disappeared off of the information boards at Paddington this evening.. I was at Paddington (running late admittedly) by 7.04pm (by the station clocks) and this train was not on the departure boards any more.. I had always thought trains were taken off 30 seconds or a minute before they were due to depart? Has this changed to two minutes? Or has it always been like this?

Unless altered by the Control Room staff at Paddington they automatically get removed from the displays 60 seconds before. It's possible that it was manually deleted by mistake a little early? If it is a turbo then it should still be a minute otherwise 2 I'd have thought it would have been more sensible to go a 2 minute removal for departures from platforms 13 and 14 to be honest. The number of people I've seen legging it down platform 12 only to trapse back forlornly a couple of minutes later. Having learned my lesson, today I was at Paddington at 18.50... And the 19.06 was showing on time up until.. yes you've guessed it, they finally displayed it as delayed at about 19.00.. I'd worked that out from the arrivals board already a while earlier.. So why the people in charge of the departures couldn't have done the same I don't know. So, having arrived at Paddington nice and early so I wouldn't miss the train.. It ended up about ten minutes late.. Just my luck! :) Incidentally does anyone know the reasons for the delays around about 7pm. My train wasn't the only one. Oh, and I noticed during my time at Paddington a sign that said it was meet the managers up until 7pm today.. I didn't see any although I didn't venture all the way across Paddington towards the platform 1 area.. So maybe they were hiding there?
