Title: Last Saturday 11/10/08

Just out of interest, does anyone happen to know why the 11:00am Westbury to Paddington train got cancelled altogether last Saturday?

My wife and I were booked to be on it, but when we got to Westbury station, a good half hour ahead of time, I glanced up, saw it listed as "cancelled", and made an on-the-spot decision to jump on the train to Bristol which was just coming in and change at Bath Spa to get to London. Consequently there was nobody we could ask why the 11 o'clock train had been cancelled (obviously the guard on the slow train to Bristol wasn't to know).

The train we eventually got from Bath to Paddington ended up being delayed by half an hour due to alleged trespassers on the line near Corsham, but that's another story altogether. Grrr.

I was really just wondering why the 11am train was cancelled. The next direct train from Westbury to Paddington isn't until about 2pm I think, so it can't have been a decision which was taken lightly.
