Title: Price of Advanced Tickets
Post by: jakemonkfish on October 07, 2008, 08:48:31
I'm confused, at least I was yesterday. each site I tried showed a different price for advanced tickets from highbridge to london - ranging from ^36 to over ^50 when they were shown at all. Why the differences? ( i haven't checked yet today)

There are allocations of advanced purchase tickets on quieter trains at each of three prices, and once the cheapest ones are gone for any particular train, the next price is offered.   It's more complex because as well as 3 standard class fares, there are 3 first class ones - you may, then, find 6 different advances purhase single fares.  And I would imagine from Highbridge there may be 6 fares via Bristol, and 6 more fares via Taunton.

Great - just like the low cost airlines - but why are different sites offfering different prices simultanesouly?
