Extra buses and a ferry service from Bristol Temple Meads are among the measures being introduced when the new Cabot Circus shopping centre opens next week (link below.)

So they're expecting an extra 20,000 cars to drive into Bristol every day to visit the same shops as they have out at Cribbs Causeway, where road access is better and the parking is free.

And they're going to solve it by making it possible to get a train to Temple Meads then a slow ferry or even slower bus for the last mile. I can imagine a huge proportion of those 20,000 imaginary drivers will prefer this option.

Oh and they're also apparently helping with "an improved cycle network". If they think there's a cycle network to improve, they should look up the word "network" in the dictionary.

Even without the economic downturn the Broadmead extension was hardly likely to be a resounding success, with so many areas of retail losing out to internet shopping.

Bristol City Council will never have a grip on reality. Soon Bristol will start falling way behind other British cities due to its rubbish infrastructure, and they will be sat on their asses blaming central government for everything, as ever.
