Title: Weston South Chord Post by: jakemonkfish on September 11, 2008, 09:48:00 Does anyone know detials re the possible reinstatement of the Weston south chord (presumably allow trains to go through Weston then back up the main line to Bristol). I saw a passing reference hidden in a council publication and started wondering about when and implications, eespecially for thsoe of us in Highbridge!

Not sure what you mean a I thought stoppers from Taunton to Bristol went round through WSM. Do you mean the provison of a triangle at Up Hill Junction (Southern end of Weston Loop)? Not sure why it would be needed there would seem to be plenty of other places to put in triangles before this one. Title: Re: Weston South Chord Post by: jakemonkfish on September 16, 2008, 16:42:40 It was in a local council document and was a passing reference to the chord's reinstatement, commenting about extra allotment provision to replace those that were lost. I agree its no urgent , but as I work at locally anything that iimproves services seemed of interest.
Title: Re: Weston South Chord Post by: Electric train on September 16, 2008, 18:22:20 Network Rail is working with TOC's n FOC's, ORR and local Authorities across the country to identify where simple improvements or additions to existing infrastructure or reinstating something removed years ago could lead to changes or improvements to train services. These investigations may never lead to any works being done as there may very little gain for a lot of money or they may be on the very long wish list.
Title: Re: Weston South Chord Post by: bemmy on September 17, 2008, 09:46:43 I suppose the idea would be that trains could return to Bristol this way and it would be a cheaper way to improve capacity between Worle and W-s-M than re-doubling the line via Weston Milton. However I'm sure it won't happen if the planned doubling from Worle Junction towards Weston Milton goes ahead.
