Title: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: Boppy on August 06, 2008, 08:57:57 Hi,
I see that on the FGW Special Offers page the Off-Peak Free Upgrade Offer is back - says offer closes 29th August on the web page. http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Content.aspx?id=2322 I filled in my details but it says offer expires July 6th on the coupon??? So maybe it's not back after all? Oh well - if it is then that'd be great. Relaxing in the First Class carriage after a late day of work - thumbs up to FGW if it is back! ;D Anyone else know if this offer is meant to be back? Boppy. Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: Ollie on August 07, 2008, 14:38:26 The new voucher should be up now, if not use the old one, from what marketing told me, this has been a rushed offer ordered by Andrew Haines. If you get a problem with a train manager not knowing about it he's best contacting line manager :)
Hope this helps. Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: Boppy on August 07, 2008, 15:00:46 Great!
Just printed out the voucher - now says valid till 29th August! Thanks very much for your help! ;D Boppy. Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: johoare on August 07, 2008, 17:03:55 Wow, great, another free first class upgrade.. It's a pity I didn't know about it last night when I travelled out of the rush hour.. Maybe FGW should publicise it more?
Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: Ollie on August 07, 2008, 20:20:04 johoare as mentioned, it was rushed, only sorted in literally last couple days.

Having printed out the voucher at work today, and having taken advantage of it on my journey home tonight (not that anyone checked tickets!!).. I got home to a letter from FGW telling me all about it... It does appear it is week days (off peak) only though.. Not weekends too like last time..I assume this is correct? Also, do we know why it was rushed in? Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: Ollie on August 08, 2008, 05:15:11 It was rushed in because from what I was told Andrew Haines told Marketing to get the offer out there =]
Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: Phil on August 08, 2008, 07:15:41 I bet he was well impressed when he read a customer querying on here why coupons still featured the old expiry date then
Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: Ollie on August 08, 2008, 16:51:13 A staff brief that was received just today stated that due to the quick issue of this offer, some people may have the old voucher.
Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: johoare on August 09, 2008, 09:50:39 Is there any reason they are not extending it to weekends too this time?
I'm off up to London tomorrow but will be taking the car since I can park for free as it's Sunday.. If however I was able to sit in first class I'd definitely have taken the train Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: Ollie on August 09, 2008, 12:12:57 I would assume it's possibly related to season ticket offer that already runs at weekends.
But I don't know the actual reason. Title: Re: Free First Class Off-Peak Upgrade for August? Post by: argg on August 29, 2008, 13:59:10 Didn't spot this one until today (D'oh!)
What are the chances of it being extended further? This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
