Title: Thank you to the FGW employee
Post by: johoare on July 25, 2008, 18:11:14
I just wanted to say Thank you to the FGW employee who was on the 01.34am Paddington to Maidenhead last night (well early this morning).. I hadn't intended to be quite this late but had missed the 00.34am by a couple of minutes. So I was a bit fed up after having an hours wait at Paddington. I had upgraded my season ticket to first class as I knew I'd be on a late train.. This particular employee was, I think, just travelling home and not working (but I could be wrong). He still kicked all the non first class ticket holders out of first class... And then when some more got on at Southall he re-appeared and sent them back to standard class too..

So Thank you!! It certainly made my rather tortuous journey home more pleasant.. And also because I was so late it was nice to know he was just behind me (in the drivers cab at the back of the train) should anything happen..

It's a brave man (or woman) who does that on their own on a late night suburban train out of Paddington. Sometimes the first class section more closely resembles a ghetto!

Brave man (or woman) or not, it's much appreciated - and I hope the above gets posted up in an appropriate staff-room, or that word gets back that the travelling public do actually take notice of such things, so that hopefully the employee will be at the very least thanked. Nice one, Johoare. You speak I am sure for quite a few of us who have found ourselves in similar situations (I know I have!)

As we know the 'top brass' at FGW read this forum, I'd also like to endorse those comments in support of that particular 'colleague', and I, too, hope they'll get due recognition for their efforts!

Chris  :)

Yes, I was definitely hoping this would somehow get back to the employee who was on that train..

(He did scare me when he first popped out of the drivers cab though :))
