Title: Swindon to Melksham - "go via Bath" say the Swindon staff
Post by: grahame on July 20, 2008, 21:05:30
I went down to Melksham station to collect a customer off the 18:51 arrival this evening - around a dozen on the train of whom two got off.

I was rather shocked that at Swindon, the lady at the ticket barrier had advised her to get the train to BATH and change (into a bus?) there.    I know that First often did this in the days that National Express operated the Swindon to Melksham service as (presumably) it drove people onto their services, but I though that was a thing of the past.

Do any of our "railway people" here know why such advise would be offered this afternoon when there was a Westbury train scheduled (my customer had actually timed her journey to connect into it!)
