Title: Traction engine sparks A30 fires Post by: Chris from Nailsea on July 17, 2008, 21:47:46 Fire crews from three stations have been dealing with a series of small fires along the A30 caused by sparks and flames from a traction engine this afternoon. A spokesman for Fire Control said they had been inundated with calls from members of the public about the fires, which were apparently ignited by sparks from the stack of the traction engine.
Officers from Devon and Cornwall police finally caught up with the traction engine just before 4pm. After speaking to the driver and his five companions about the need to be more vigilant, the traction engine has been allowed to continue its journey to St Ives.
