Senior officers have confirmed that one of the supposed organisers has made contact with police in the last 24 hours to admit the seafront bash was a bogus event which snowballed out of control. It's not so much the police response to the perceived threat to public order with that I take issue with, that's fine; but I do have a problem with the fact that it requires "senior police officers" to deal with it!
