Title: Short-Formed Trains (24/06/2008) Post by: Lee on June 24, 2008, 11:31:19 From the FGW website :
08:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour due 11:54 This train will run short formed with 2 carriages between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour. This is due to an earlier train fault. 09:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour due 12:54 This train will run short formed with 2 carriages between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour. This is due to an earlier train fault. 13:22 Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central due 16:43 This train will run short formed with 2 carriages between Portsmouth Harbour and Cardiff Central. This is due to an earlier train fault. 16:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour due 19:54 This train will run short formed with 2 carriages between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads. This is due to an earlier train fault. From Bristol Temple Meads to Portsmouth Harbour this train will be formed of 4 carriages instead of 5. 17:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour due 20:59 This train will run short formed with 2 carriages. Title: Re: Short-Formed Trains (24/06/2008) Post by: Timmer on June 25, 2008, 07:10:25 Looks like one of FGW's three car 158s must be out of action as another 2 car 158 is running the route today:
05:49 Westbury to Portsmouth Harbour due 07:45 This train will run short formed with 2 carriages. This is due to a train fault. 08:22 Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central due 11:43 This train will run short formed with 2 carriages. This is due to an earlier train fault. Tom can correct me if I'm wrong but I assume this will then run the 12.30 Cardiff-Portsmouth, 16.22 Portsmouth-Cardiff later in the day? Title: Re: Short-Formed Trains (24/06/2008) Post by: Lee on June 25, 2008, 11:13:03 Two of the 3-car 158's are out of action by the look of it :
09:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour due 12:54 This train will run short formed with 2 carriages. This is due to an earlier train fault. Title: Re: Short-Formed Trains (24/06/2008) Post by: devon_metro on June 25, 2008, 12:52:06 Not all of them have been formed yet...
Title: Re: Short-Formed Trains (24/06/2008) Post by: Lee on June 25, 2008, 14:49:10 Not all of them have been formed yet... Portsmouth-Cardiff services are all diagrammed as 3-coach 158's though (link below.) http://www.southwesternlines.co.uk/downloads/fgwdiagmay08/SX_PM158s.pdf Title: Re: Short-Formed Trains (24/06/2008) Post by: devon_metro on June 25, 2008, 15:03:30 Correct, but there are still some 3 coach 158s to be put together. I'm sure Jim would update us, but he's banned...

http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=3035.msg23283#msg23283 Quote from: TravelWatch SouthWest FGW rolling stock All twelve First Great Western single carriage class 153 units have now been refurbished by Wabtec Rail at Doncaster. First Great Western now has eight three-carriage refurbished class 158 units in service ^ the company is planning to have eleven three-carriage refurbished class 158 units, primarily for use on services between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour. Hope this helps. Title: Re: Short-Formed Trains (24/06/2008) Post by: tramway on June 26, 2008, 08:53:11 Looks like one of the new 158/9^s has had problems as it has reverted to 2 car as it ran last nights 1822 BTM Pompey. It arrived at Filton as 2 car but fortunately attached to a 150 on Platform 1.
As an aside I take it there is a broken rail at Filton junction judging by the speed restriction currently imposed there.
