As I read that, the number of railcard types is set to be drastically reduced.

We have a mountain of reading to do!

This consultation and what it included will be a major component of the TravelWatch SouthWest meeting in Taunton on 21st March (discussed yesterday afternoon with Chair and Co Sec) - please put that in your diaries now - all user groups, special interest groups, service providers and specifiers welcome to send a delegate (and probably an understudy).  Unattached individuals welcome too - we do look to avoid being overrun by large contingents from a single town / service.

In terms of the railcards I guess we can hope for a harmonisation of railcard conditions.

It is bonkers that each railcard has different restrictions associated with it (eg some are valid pre 9.30 and others are not) - that would allow a simplify their use and reduce people using them incorrectly....

There's your first point for the consultation right there!
