A series of level crossings and a railway line will be closed in Surrey during upgrade work, Network Rail has said.

All the crossings will have new signalling installed as part of the upgrades to the North Downs line between Guildford and Gatwick Airport.

The work will also be see 16 new signals erected along the stretch of railway, which will help provide a more reliable services for passengers.

Network Rail warned that further weekend closures will be required to fully install the crossings, which will be operational in October 2025.

The closures are:

* The Brook Level Crossing on New Road, Albury, will be closed at all times until 17 February.

* The Burrows Lane Level Crossing on Queen Street, Gomshall, will be closed at all times until 17 February.

* The Chilworth Level Crossing on Sampleoak Road, Chilworth, will be closed overnight on all dates between 8 February and 17 February. The level crossing will also be closed all day on 13 February.

The railway line will reopen on 17 February.

Buses are replacing trains during the whole closure.
