I, too, have generally praised the barrier staff, here at Bristol Temple Meads.

I've often been impressed with their patience, helpfulness and downright reasonableness - sometimes in the face of quite rude behaviour / comments from one or two of my 'fellow' commuters.

Please be nice to them: barrier staff are people, too!  ;)
