Owing to vandalism overnight no Weymouth line services are running between Frome and Yeovil:

Line problem between Castle Cary and Westbury.
Train services between Castle Cary and Westbury are being disrupted due to vandalism.Engineers are working as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Short notice cancellations and delays of up to 20 minutes can be expected.

A shuttle train service is in operation between Yeovil Pen Mill and Weymouth in both directions. Train services from Westbury to Weymouth will terminate at Frome with replacement road transport in operation from Westbury to Weymouth. Train services from Weymouth to Westbury will terminate at Yeovil Pen Mill with replacment road transport in operation from Yeovil Pen Mill to Westbury.

Lots of delays about today!

Problems seem to be centered around Castle Cary with all High Speed trains loosing around half an hour between Cogload JN and Fairwood Jn

Copper cable theft again?

On a slightly different tack following the recent rail theft prosecution, it continues to amaze me considering the price of scrap steel at an all time high the amount of 'scrap' rail that still sits around the network, not only is it an eyesore, but an enticing gift to someone who might like to make a bob or two, and endanger the network as a result. Middle of Bath Spa a prime example, a load of old cut up rail just sitting around, how many thousands of tons must be recoverable, or is it not that cost effective to run a collection train occasionally.

There was a load of it taken from the junction near Swindon. Can't remember the name!
