Title: Beeching and Benson Post by: grahame on November 08, 2024, 13:01:42 The Beeching report in Great Britain was followed by the Benson report in Northern Ireland.
And whilst I can find online copies of the Beeching report, I've drawn a blank looking for a copy of the Benson report - I can find only references and not the report itself. Can anyone help me? A URL or even a paper copy I can scan? Title: Re: Beeching and Benson Post by: Western Pathfinder on November 08, 2024, 14:08:31 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Benson,_Baron_Benson
Might this be of help?. Title: Re: Beeching and Benson Post by: grahame on November 08, 2024, 14:31:38 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Benson,_Baron_Benson Might this be of help?. Only somewhat - there are a number of references around but none of them has yet lead me to the actual report - just a summary of the headlines and outcomes. The nearest I could find is the website of the Irish Railway Record Society, at https://irrs.ie/library/ , but I suspect you'd have to pay for a copy. ::) Title: Re: Beeching and Benson Post by: grahame on November 08, 2024, 19:39:47 I, too, have trawled the internet, but couldn't find a copy of the full Benson report. Next time I'm in Dublin on a Tuesday evening ... Quote The Historic Railway Law Library has over 1,000 volumes including Acts of Parliament, Orders and Instruments, Royal Commissions, Reports, Text Books, Studies, Papers, Accident Reports and Board of Trade Papers. This collection is housed in the Balfour Browne Room which is also home to our exhibition of railway memorabilia. Visitors and researchers are welcome visit the library on Tuesday evenings. In fact I wish I had known about this prior to 2018 because I spend an awful lot of time around the Dublin area for work and evenings were - well, the library would have been more exciting.Title: Re: Beeching and Benson Post by: ChrisB on November 08, 2024, 20:29:22 That organisation do have a London Branch if that helps
