Title: More Possible Good News for Worcestershire Passengers Post by: John R on June 05, 2008, 22:30:13 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hereford/worcs/7438065.stm
Electrification of the Lickey Incline, and dramatic increases in services to Redditch and Bromsgrove appear close to being approved. Title: Re: More Possible Good News for Worcestershire Passengers Post by: willc on June 05, 2008, 22:42:35 Not sure where the BBC get the idea it's on Friday, as this is part of the ORR response to the Strategic Business Plan released today, just like the Cotswold Line stuff.
Should anyone wish to peruse all 374 pages of it, see http://www.rail-reg.gov.uk/upload/pdf/368.pdf (http://www.rail-reg.gov.uk/upload/pdf/368.pdf) The Redditch branch and Bromsgrove electrification are on pages 160-161, and are listed as "Other schemes with strong business cases driven by revenue benefits". Cotswold Line is mentioned on page 159 and 360. There are tables near the bottom giving suggested budgets for enhancements etc, with what NR estimates and what ORR recommends. Title: Re: More Possible Good News for Worcestershire Passengers Post by: Btline on June 06, 2008, 17:57:05 I expect a rebuild of Redditch station will occur as well - I doubt one terminal platform with no sidings can hold 3 tph (unless they cut the turnaround time >:( ) !!
This is good news. Remember, every bit of electrification increases the chances of a full XC route electrification! ;D This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
