Title: London TravelWatch Chairman Sacked By Assembly Transport Panel Post by: Lee on June 03, 2008, 16:09:46 London TravelWatch chairman Brian Cooke has been told he no longer has a job after the London Assembly Transport Committee ruled that had breached the terms and conditions of his appointment (link below.)
http://www.transportbriefing.co.uk/story.php?id=4995 The decision followed a statement from Cooke during the run up to the London mayoral election in which he expressed support for Boris Johnson and claimed that Ken Livingstone's approach to transport policy was "arrogant". The assembly, which funds London TravelWatch, agreed by a majority vote at an Extraordinary Meeting on Monday (2 June) to terminate his appointment with immediate effect. Brian Cooke's four-year term of office was due to end on 30 September this year and the recruitment process for a new chairman and board members is already underway. Title: Re: London TravelWatch Chairman Sacked By Assembly Transport Panel Post by: Rugrat on June 03, 2008, 21:16:34 Brian Cooke was formerly Vice-Chair of RPC Eastern England. As Chairman of London Travelwatch he was a Board member of Passenger Focus. Eastern England is grossly over-represented on the Passenger Focus. Other PF Board members with Eastern England connections are David Burton, Kate Gordon (former member of RPC Eastern England), Derek Langslow (former Chair of RPC Eastern England), Bill Samuel (former member of RPC Eastern England) and Barbara Saunders. They were appointed to the PF Board when Stuart Francis, former Chair of RPC Eastern England, was Chairman Designate of Passenger Focus. Francis, Burton and Samuel were all members of the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Strategic Health Authority.
