Quote A special event at Westbury station on Thursday will celebrate the launch of a new archive film project. Windrose Rural Media Trust has used footage from 1909 to the 1990s to create short films relevant to 24 stations across seven routes on the GWR network. Each film explores local life as it used to be, allowing customers to travel into the past via a QR code link on posters displayed at stations, which can be scanned into phones while waiting for the train. Routes covered are: Westbury to Salisbury Westbury to Weymouth Westbury to Bath Westbury to Swindon Westbury to Bedwyn Westbury to Taunton Taunton to Bristol Made possible by a grant from GWR’s Customer and Community Improvement Fund, the project has been inspired by a 1936 film called Great Western Approaches, which took viewers on a journey into the sun. An introductory film can be viewed here https://youtu.be/rKvA98Cla-o and film footage will be available on request.
