shame the council could not upgrade the rail link and keep lorries off the roads and Motorways. Road access would, no doubt, be needed as well as the proposed Gravity connection, though. It's not a case of "either / or". It was reported last year that this would only happen once a factory is built and occupied.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-bristol-67309376 There is an existing trackbed that could be reused, including an extant rail bridge over the M5. Provided said bridge is in good enough condition to be reused. This was a branch off the Bristol & Exeter Line serving the Royal Ordnance Factory Bridgwater, which formerly occupied the land earmarked for the Gravity Campus development. As for the proposed new motorway junction here's more information on that. https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/new-m5-junction-planned-provide-9327185 Title: Re: Somerset Council considering new motorway junction Post by: grahame on June 07, 2024, 08:54:05 There are tentative plans for the rail link to the site to be established. It was reported last year that this would only happen once a factory is built and occupied. This is the tragedy of public transport development - trains and buses are only introduced, it seems, after the place is up and fully running so that everyone has made their own plans and bought their own motors before the sustainable alternative is started. Can I request that you ask JayMac to refrain from making snotty comments about my postings. It seems they have an issue with everything I post, unless he would like to give me a ring so we can discuss his issue with me. 0117 3361668 thanks Title: Re: Somerset Council considering new motorway junction Post by: grahame on June 07, 2024, 10:45:23 Grahame .... Yes, but the message is published for the world to see ... 1. Can I suggest you go back and edit out your direct phone number - by all means include it in a personal message, but you may not want it out there on the web? 2. Also as this is in public, I'm limited in what I'm saying but we are in touch behind the scenes with members from time to time who rub each other up the wrong way, with a view to keeping everyone on the same ship even if they prefer to be in cabins well separated, and to ensuring that's understood all around. Sorry about the nautical paralels rather than rail ones today - we're heading off to Arcadia soon! Title: Re: Somerset Council considering new motorway junction Post by: JayMac on June 07, 2024, 11:21:40 I've changed the (likely) offending word to 'information'.
