Title: Devon Day Ranger
Post by: Phantom on May 07, 2024, 14:32:01
Is it still a thing?

I am looking to go to Teignmouth for the day this Sunday from Weston
Been trying to find the cheapest day return fare, either day return for the full journey or breaking it down to returns between numerous stations en route

There are two of us going and we have a two together railcard

Talking to a friend he mentioned the Devon Day Ranger ticket, I can find it listed here https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/tickets-railcards-offers/promotions/devon-day-ranger/
But no indication of where to buy it - I just wondered if it was an old webpage that hasn't been deleted

I'm leaving Weston at 1024 to arrive into Teignmouth 1157
Coming home either the direct service at 1634 or happy to make changes on the 1640 if cheaper

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

That shows that you can book on the GWR website, but no station collection - instead, next day special delivery for an additional £7.50. Or go to a ticket office

It can be any ticket office - so Weston will be able to sell you one.

You will need a return from Weston to Tiverton Parkway but as one of the tickets is a rover, your train does not need to call there.

Having a quick look, if you only want to go to Teignmouth, it looks like your best bet is an Off Peak Day Return from Weston to Taunton (£7.30 with Railcard) and an Off Peak Day Return from Taunton to Teignmouth (£13.10 with Railcard).  £20.40 total.  This is because Taunton is the only station where you can get an Off Peak Day Return from Weston and to Teignmouth.   Weston booking office can sell you both.   Saves £6.15 on a WSM - Teignmouth Off Peak Return.
