But it is also one of the best bits of one of the Great Railway Jounneys of the World, worth every penny!

Back in the 1980s I chose to make this journey, then at a much lower fare, because a sudden heavy shower made walking across Hungerford Bridge an unattractive option. If a Royal Marine wanted a pint in the Puffing Billy and didn't fancy a yomp home (Exton to Lympstone Commando) - then it is £2.10 for a slightly shorter journey at 36 chains.
