Title: would you like your own LIVE train station departure board?
Post by: infoman on March 26, 2024, 06:38:02
This is a good idea, but the cost is a little on the high side,
I suppose it would be something similar to what they have at Weatherspoons pub at BTM.

I would have thought you could make up your own, through your phone a little bit cheaper.

Geoff Marshall has covered these a few times on his YouTube channel, here's his most recent video about them from 4 months ago:

Have a look in the Three Lions pub, there is a large platform display hanging in the pub for Parson Street

…but do be aware that the Three Lions is not best known for its train spotting clientele.

Yep, the forum map at http://new.passenger.chat/better/map.html - click on the station of interest and you'll get a whole list of what's available.

We have one of these, though from traindepartures.com (which is rather cheaper) not ukdepartureboards.co.uk - I bought it as a present for Mrs F who commutes into Oxford every day.

It's a fun little thing in itself, and genuinely useful in that I'll often glance at it when walking through the house and get a heads-up of any disruption. My main issue with it is that you can either set it to show all departures from a station (e.g. Charlbury), or all departures that subsequently call at another given station (e.g. Charlbury to Oxford), but what I'd really like is for that to flip during the day - so that in the morning it shows Charlbury to Oxford, and in the afternoon it shows Oxford to Charlbury. In theory I could probably code something to reset it every 12 hours but that would require a fresh supply of Round Tuits.

I have my office ukdepartures board alternating between train times at the local station and the upcoming arrivals at my two nearest bus stops.

Maybe Trainspotting. But a good friend of mine is, or at least was, a regular.

The bar of the hotel I stayed in last September, in Windermere, had a display indistinguishable from that on the platform of the nearby station.

How about Charlbury to Oxford in the AM and Charlbury to Moreton in the PM?
