Title: OTD - 6th March (1966 & 2024) Post by: Mark A on March 06, 2024, 11:37:56 1966, and Devonshire Tunnel saw its last trains save for those involved in track recovery.
2024, the tunnel, reopened in 2013 as a popular shared-use path, has been closed since the turn of the year by flooding, groundwater gathering there at a greater rate than the somewhat blocked railway-era drainage can remove it. The start of the week also saw some contractors kit stabled at the tunnel entrance - work is in progress to sort a couple of issues with water the other side of Maple Grove Bridge where the tunnel drain surfaces, or rather, doesn't surface... at a later date, the tunnel drain itself will be further investigated and hopefully fixed.
