Mark https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/hitachi-rail-maintenance-engineers-to-take-strike-action/ (https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/hitachi-rail-maintenance-engineers-to-take-strike-action/) There was some news earlier about Unite strike action, but the press release they put out yesterday (https://www.unitetheunion.org/news-events/news/2024/january/national-strike-by-hitachi-rail-workers-over-pay) is more complete. That ends with: Quote Unite and RMT Hitachi Rail workers are at depots in Bristol, Plymouth, Penzance, Wiltshire, Swansea, London and Edinburgh. They will take part in strike action from 27 January 2024 until 1 February 2024. Title: Re: Maintenance engineer strike at Hitachi Post by: Mark A on January 20, 2024, 12:51:14 Ah. Thanks for the additional info. This surely has... ramifications...

Title: Re: Maintenance engineer strike at Hitachi Post by: ChrisB on January 20, 2024, 16:10:53 Interestingly, the RMT press release makes no mention whatsoever of GWR Hitachi depots.
https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/hitachi-rail-maintenance-engineers-to-take-strike-action/ Whereas the Unite one does... https://www.unitetheunion.org/news-events/news/2024/january/national-strike-by-hitachi-rail-workers-over-pay We may need to wait & see. It looks like between them they cover all the Hitachi-run sites, with Unite being the main union involved. RMT specify just three depots; by implication they don't represent staff in the others: Quote Strike action will take place at Craigentinny, Bounds Green & Doncaster maintenance depots with members at Outstations and Maintenance Control also taking action.
