Title: Re: Luton airport is closed wed 11 oct at 06:00am Post by: ChrisB on October 11, 2023, 09:30:07 No flights until at least 1500. Can you imagine having arrived back from holiday, diverted into another UK airport, & being unable to even reach the airport that you left your car at, which may also now be burned out / crushed etc. - but unable to find out. Do you go on home, only to return to Luton when the airport reopens, or do you hang around the arrival airport until they announce a reopening & find your there from wherever you landed? Horrendous
Wonder what the insurance answer is if your vehicle has been affected if its only third-party insured? I bet the T&Cs on the car park exclude damage caused like this where the owners aren't negligent? I bet the T&Cs on the car park exclude damage caused like this where the owners aren't negligent? Doesn't not having a working fire suppression system count as negligent? Well, no, it seems. From Eversafe (https://www.eversafefire.com/general/should-sprinklers-be-installed-in-garages-car-parks) (who sell sprinklers): Quote Have you ever spotted a sprinkler system in a multi-storey car park? It’s unlikely. That’s because, under the current Building Regulations for England and Wales, it is not a legal requirement for enclosed multi-storey car parks to feature this form of fire protection. The 999 services won't let you near the airport,so stay at home till you get the tip to go to the airport. Title: Re: Luton airport is closed wed 11 oct at 06:00am Post by: Marlburian on October 11, 2023, 15:36:28 A friend visited me from London today, intending to then go to Stansted for a flight to Nice - and she'd just let her London flat as an Airbnb. After a bit of time on her mobile, she managed to book a flight from Gatwick Airport at 8am tomorrow, with the airline paying for an overnight hotel.
She's a very seasoned airline passenger and polylingual, but found changing the arrangements stressful. Title: Re: Luton airport is closed wed 11 oct at 06:00am Post by: ChrisB on October 11, 2023, 16:00:04 Flights have resumed, not sure about accessing that car park/ your car (if parked there)
Title: Re: Luton airport is closed wed 11 oct at 06:00am Post by: broadgage on October 15, 2023, 16:36:47 It has been announced that all or almost all of the vehicles in the car par park are believed to be unsalageable.
