The meal was notable not just for the food but an alert JayMac received on his phone part way through. Someone had taken an unauthorised payment from his bank and wiped out his debit card. I seem to recall after a bit of to and fro he got it all back. Don't remember what I had for lunch though!

Title: Re: Hope and Anchor, Midford Post by: Mark A on August 27, 2023, 16:18:14 Good news on the Hope and Anchor - a lucky pub - it reopened on Friday under new ownership. It'll soon be doing food again, but until the end of the month the kitchen's still powering up - when I dropped by on Friday a lot of food prep. being done. Hopefully the continued presence of the Hope and Anchor will help catalyse traffic calming and a 20 zone on the road outside, something that will go down well with the rest of the village.
Photo below from September 2015, when the structure's height restriction signage was renewed/updated, and when an increasingly large chunk out of the road arch at Midford was last repaired. This work brought large amounts of peace and quiet for a week or so. It must be also be very lucky that the viaduct didn't lose at least the road arch when the line closed as this just about needs doing again. It also explains a link between Private Godfrey of Dad’s Army and Titfield!
