Title: Chard Parkway?

Local politician looking to reopen Chard Junction. With Axminster five miles away and Crewkerne eight, could a case be made for this? I would doubt it unless a case could be made to extend the Devon Metro to Chard with only the Metro service calling there.

It sounds like a good idea ... and it would be if it was "Chard Central" and not "Chard Road".  If you have to get into a powered road vehicle to get there, perhaps your hub should be Axminster if headed west and Crewkerne if headed east - assuming good road access, bus service, enough parking at those hubs.   On previous looks at this one, the Chard Junction site is accessed by lanes rather than highways, and there's not much walking-distance traffic there, but I'm no aware of new local plans for the area and if there's major housing coming with the infrastructure it needs, then a station might make sense.

Big discussions at RailFuture as to whether this should be on the "projects we support" map ... so I do have some out of date background!
