Title: Re: no train service 21 august to 24 august 2023 Post by: grahame on August 16, 2023, 07:10:36 no direct services from Cheltenham and Gloucester via the Cotswold line on above dates. As I understand it, Gloucester closed completely today (but the bypass line still open). Cheltenham Spa to Paddington services and Bristol to Worcester services using that link, with buses from Gloucester to Cheltenham Spa, Chepstow and Cam and Dursley. Not sure about Stonehouse / Stroud - I suspect people have to double back at Cheltenham Spa GWR aren't running the 05:17 Gloucester to Southampton via Swindon and advice on the leg to Swindon has been "use other services - train will start from Swindon". They have given up on the Swindon to Trowbridge section too ... first southbound train at Melksham is the 09:10 rather than the 06:36 .... I suspect that it's coming in from / vis Bath; not sure what (at the least) it couldn't have doubled back at Chippenham. Quote 06:11 Swindon to Southampton Central due 08:07 06:11 Swindon to Southampton Central due 08:07 will be started from Trowbridge. It will no longer call at Swindon, Chippenham and Melksham. It will be delayed at Trowbridge and is expected to be 5 minutes late. This is due to a shortage of train crew. Quote Track work that was due to be conducted this week near Stroud train station in Gloucestershire has been delayed by Network Rail due to the discovery of dormice in the area. Title: Re: no train service 21 august to 24 august 2023 Post by: IndustryInsider on August 22, 2023, 10:26:05 Five out of the six through services between Cheltenham/Gloucester and Paddington that are running via Bristol Parkway this week were cancelled yesterday. Better today with all three running so far…but all three delayed into Paddington by 27, 7 and 17 minutes respectively.

Quote Also included in this programme of works are plans to cut back overgrown vegetation and improve drainage between Kemble and Sapperton stations. Sapperton station? Is there something we should be told...? ;D Title: Re: no train service 21 august to 24 august 2023 Post by: PrestburyRoad on August 22, 2023, 12:17:23 Perhaps 'Sapperton station' is thinking of the former engineers' siding next to the entrance to Sapperton tunnel. Though it didn't have a platform or an advertised public service when I saw it in the 1970s.
