Title: Celebrating a watershed - finished 8th December 2006, restarted 29th May 2023 Post by: grahame on May 29, 2023, 23:49:09 The first arrival of the late train (now 22:30) from Swindon for nearly 17 years - a feeling of completeness and a great feeling of achievement.
(http://www.wellho.net/pix/mkm_20230529_00.jpg) A very low key evening - timetables changed a week ago, but this service change was delayed a week because of engineering works. So really lovely to see, on a Monday evening (and a bank holiday one) with no fanfare our first three late passengers arriving. Thirteen passengers on the train when we left Trowbridge, 3 off and 2 more on at Melksham - 15/5. In less than a month, on a mid-week night during term time, a good start; I am reminded of just how long even the DfT allows for a service to bed in from previous experience. Train Manager reports it's very much busier on the return leg (22:30 from Swindon) which is what I would have anticipated. Also got the feeling that some of the clientele are very wise to be using the train rather than driving themselves.
