Title: [OTD] 13 April (1854) - opening of Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton
Post by: grahame on April 13, 2023, 08:56:36
From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford,_Worcester_and_Wolverhampton_Railway)

Quote
On 13 April 1854, a broad gauge train travelled the entire length of the main line between Oxford and Wolverhampton

What is the Cotswold line these days, though the Northern section has not all survived

The official engineers code for the North Cotswold Line is still OWW as I understand it (also the line north of Worcester) as I understand it.

Many of the current ELR's still refer to their original railway even after there was a tidy up of the ELRs a while back examples are Maidenhead - Bourne End still has and ELR of WBB (Wycombe Branch) and the Bourne End - Marlow MWB (Marlow Wycombe Branch)
